Orleans Parish Jury Convicts Serial Offender

New Orleans, LA – On Friday, August 23rd, an Orleans Parish jury delivered a significant verdict, convicting Navarri Henderson of multiple heinous crimes, including first-degree rape, aggravated kidnapping, second-degree robbery, and domestic abuse battery against a pregnant woman. These crimes reflect a pattern of extreme violence and a blatant disregard for human life and dignity. Henderson was also charged with an additional count of first-degree rape, aggravated kidnapping, and obstruction of justice, but the jury found him not guilty on these specific charges.

“We are profoundly grateful to the jury for delivering a just verdict for these courageous survivors,” said Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Division Chief Mary Glass. “The survivors have shown immense bravery in facing the harrowing ordeal of testifying, and this verdict affirms their strength and the safety of our community.”

Henderson’s brutal crimes spanned several years. In 2016, he attacked a woman jogging along the river levee in Algiers, raping her with no regard for her life. Two years later, in 2018, he violently assaulted another woman, forcing her behind a building in an Algiers neighborhood. The DNA evidence collected connected both crimes to an unknown perpetrator, leaving the cases unsolved until late 2019.

Henderson was arrested again for another violent crime—which involved him breaking his pregnant girlfriend’s jaw. During this arrest, the DNA from the previous assaults was matched to Henderson, revealing his identity as the perpetrator of these horrific crimes.

The severity of Henderson’s actions cannot be overstated. These were not isolated incidents but part of a dangerous pattern of predatory behavior that threatened the safety of the entire community. The victims displayed extraordinary courage in confronting their attacker in court, ensuring that he will no longer be able to harm others.

The trial was led by a dedicated team, including SAKI Division Chief Mary Glass, ADA Meghan Falcon, ADA Penny Kissinger, Chief of Victim/Witness Alison Morgado, Investigator David Benelli, SAKI Director of Special Projects Ariel White, and Trial Assistant Rachel Chimeno. Their relentless pursuit of justice has brought closure to these cold cases and ensured that Henderson will be held accountable for his crimes.
