OPDA Special Victims Unit Formally Charges Dean Kelly with Sexual Battery, related offenses; Calls on the Public to Report Ongoing Violations

New Orleans, LA – May 10, 2024 – The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit has formally filed sexual battery and attempted simple rape charges against Dean Kelly, for predatory acts following his release for past sex crimes. Kelly also formally faces charges for failing to fulfill registration obligations, including not registering his BMW X5 and not providing notification of his sex offender status on social networking sites.

The OPDA Special Victims Unit calls on the public and potential victims to report any contact with Kelly (pictured below) via dating and social networking apps. The public should be aware that Kelly is suspected of utilizing social media and dating sites under various assumed aliases to conceal his true identity. These accounts bearing aliases often contain actual photos of Kelly, himself.

Untitled DesignKelly’s violent past and ongoing conduct represent a clear and present danger to the members of this community. Therefore, OPDA is asking anyone who may have been targeted by Kelly on dating and social media apps to please contact the New Orleans Police Department immediately by dialing 911 or visiting their District Precinct. Timely cooperation from the community is crucial in our collective effort to hold this defendant fully accountable and prevent future incidents.
