DA Williams continues his commitment to accountability and transparency

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office (OPDA) announced that 100 guilty pleas have been secured since April 1. The guilty pleas secured during the first half of April 2022 were for a number of violent offenses including theft, illegal possession of weapons, robbery, kidnapping sexual assault, domestic abuse, and manslaughter.

The announcement of these newly secured guilty pleas follows District Attorney Jason Williams doubling down on his commitment to transparency. DA Williams released two additional data dashboards highlighting the work of OPDA. Hosted on OrleansDA.com’s Home and Increase Transparency pages, the new data dashboards track guilty pleas secured by OPDA and law enforcement referrals to OPDA.

“From Day 1, we have been committed to restoring trust in this office by increasing transparency and openness,” said DA Williams. “We look forward to continuing to take the public on the journey of understanding the work of this office and share information and data that provides important insight into what we are doing.”

During the first three months of 2022, the DA’s office has secured a total of 573 guilty pleas for offenses. Last year, despite court closures, OPDA secured over 3500 guilty pleas in over 1700 cases. Our office is laser-focused on prosecuting violent crimes committed in our neighborhoods.
