New Orleans, LA – Today, KEVIN NUNEZ, JERBEN ALBAREC, and JOSHUA BONIFACIO were indicted by an Orleans Parish Grand Jury in connection with the tragic death of Kristie Thibodeaux on June 30, 2024. The Grand Jury returned indictments charging all three defendants with Second Degree Murder. In addition to murder charges, JERBEN ALBAREC and JOSHUA BONIFACIO were also indicted for Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, related to the same event. The incident, which took place in the French Quarter, was captured by multiple surveillance cameras. The footage shows the defendant Nunez ambushing and fatally shooting Ms. Thibodeaux as she sat in her car in the 700 block of St. Peter Street. These defendants now face life sentences and will be tried in Criminal District Court. The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Homicide Unit, under the leadership of Chief Matthew Derbes, is committed to securing justice for Ms. Thibodeaux and her family. The unit is diligently preparing the case for trial, aiming to secure a conviction and ensure these defendants are held fully accountable for their heinous acts. “Our office will pursue this case with the full weight of the law to ensure that justice is served for Kristie Thibodeaux and her loved ones.
