| New Orleans, Louisiana – On January 2nd, DA Williams joined BBC NEWS to address an international audience on the horrific tragedy and convey the steadfast spirit of New Orleans in the face of evil. At least one British citizen has been confirmed among those we regrettably lost in the early hours of New Year’s Day – a fact that further highlights the reality that this act of cowardice committed here at our home was an attack on the peace and freedoms of communities local and abroad. As the interview began to broadcast, women and men of the NOPD were rolling back the caution tape that had cordoned off parts of the street surrounding the crime scene. The opening of the area saw dozens of mourners stopping to pay their respects at the vigil to those lost. The solemnity of the moment was accompanied by brass music and revelers filling the area to display the resolve with which our City is synonymous. |
