Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office Partners with The Blood Center to Support Victims of New Year’s Day Bourbon Street Tragedy; Hosts Blood Drive at DA’s Office

NEW ORLEANS, LA (January 10, 2025) – Following the tragic events that unfolded on New Year’s Day on Bourbon Street, the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office (OPDA) was anxious to find meaningful ways to support victims and their families through dedicated acts of service and solidarity.

On Friday, January 3, OPDA team members visited The Blood Center in Mid-City to participate in a critical blood drive aimed at aiding those injured in the attack.

In recognition of the continued need for blood donations to support the critically injured, OPDA has identified additional opportunities to contribute to this life-saving cause. In partnership with The Blood Center, OPDA will host an on-site blood donation event at its office, located at 619 South White Street. The confirmed date will be announced soon.

This event will provide OPDA staff and community members with another meaningful opportunity to make a life-saving impact. Stay connected for further updates.

“Every day, the members of the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office fight to protect the vulnerable and advocate for justice,” said DA Jason Williams. “But our work doesn’t stop at the courthouse doors. We are also committed to serving our community in meaningful ways, and this is one way we can stand together with the victims of this horrific tragedy and all who rely on these life-saving donations.”

The efforts were spearheaded by OPDA Chief of Trials Constance Tullier, who took it upon herself to work with The Blood Center to schedule the January 3rd visit and to arrange the upcoming on-site blood drive at the DA’s Office.

In the days following the tragedy, OPDA staff has continuously sought ways to offer support—both privately and publicly—demonstrating an unwavering commitment to serving the people of New Orleans beyond the walls of 619 South White Street. Their actions reflect a deep sense of duty and compassion for the community they call home.

The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office invites community members to stand with them by participating in the upcoming on-site blood drive or by visiting The Blood Center to donate at their convenience. Blood donations play a crucial role in saving lives—not only in moments of crisis but also for countless individuals who depend on them daily for survival and healing.
