NEW ORLEANS — The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office announced today that Nicholas Miorana and Darrell Adams have each been sentenced to 45 years in the custody of the Louisiana Department of Corrections for their roles in the November 2024 French Quarter mass shooting that claimed the life of Yasmeen Webb and injured three others.
The sentences were imposed by Judge Camille Buras in Section H of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
As trial began and a jury was selected and sworn in, both defendants elected to plead guilty rather than face the evidence prepared to be presented against them.
The guilty pleas included the following convictions:
Darrell Adams: Manslaughter (La. R.S. 14:31), Obstruction of Justice (La. R.S. 14:130.1), and three counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder (La. R.S. 14:27 and La. R.S. 14:30.1).
Nicholas Miorana: Manslaughter (La. R.S. 14:31), Obstruction of Justice (La. R.S. 14:130.1), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (La. R.S. 14:95.1), and three counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder (La. R.S. 14:27 and La. R.S. 14:30.1).
The convictions stem from a mass shooting that unfolded in the 700 block of Iberville Street in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter. Evidence showed that Miorana drove armed accomplices to the area moments before Nicholas Miorana, Daniel Miorana, and Darrell, exited the vehicle and began firing over 20 shots in multiple directions where a crowd gathered near one of the city’s busiest districts.
Webb, 27, was struck and killed. Three additional victims suffered gunshot wounds. Dozens of others were forced to flee for safety as shots rang out through the French Quarter.
“Yasmeen should still be here today. What happened in the French Quarter was not only a tragedy for her family but a stark reminder of how quickly reckless gun violence can shatter lives and threaten an entire community, and could have resulted in far greater loss. These pleas ensure accountability for those who helped bring about that devastation,” said Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams.
Video evidence obtained through Project NOLA cameras and the City of New Orleans Real Time Crime Center captured key moments before, during, and after the shooting. Investigators used that footage to track the defendants’ movements as they fled the French Quarter, traveled to New Orleans East, removed the license plate from the getaway vehicle, and attempted to conceal their involvement in the crime.
Law enforcement officers later located the vehicle and apprehended Nicholas Miorana.
The guilty pleas brought resolution to a case for two of the defendants that was prepared for trial and supported by extensive digital evidence, surveillance footage, and investigative work conducted by Detective Wayne M. Lewis of the New Orleans Police Department. The third shooter, Daniel Miorana, will be retried later this year following an undecided jury this week.
While the proceedings concluded inside a courtroom, the consequences of the violence extended far beyond it. A young woman lost her life, three people were wounded, and a community was left to reckon with another act of senseless gun violence in the heart of New Orleans.
The Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office extends its continued prayers to the family and loved ones of Yasmeen Webb and to the surviving victims impacted by this senseless shooting.
The case was prosecuted by Homicide Unit Chief Matthew Derbes with assistance from Victim Witness Advocate Melissa Lewis, Trial Assistant Diene “DJ” Jiles, and Investigator Elizabeth Garcia.
