NEW ORLEANS – Last week, District Attorney Jason Williams’s Office secured the conviction of defendant Leroy Mason for an incident on South Broad Street in November 2022. Led by Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) Alex Geissmann and Schyler Brooks, Mason pled guilty as charged to Attempted Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Felon with a Firearm.

District Attorney Jason Williams said, “The dedicated women and men of the DA’s Office are sending a clear message to bad actors in our community that we will not accept crime anywhere in New Orleans and we will ensure that those who choose to wreak havoc in our city are held responsible. My prosecutors are determined to do their part to turn the tide of violence in this city. New Orleans is not a place where we will tolerate crime or violence in any form and this conviction is proof positive of our commitment to deliver justice for the people of New Orleans.”

According to NOPD reports, defendant Leroy Mason approached the victim in a parking lot in the 200 block of South Broad Street and demanded money at gunpoint.

The plea took place in Section F of Criminal District Court; Judge Robin D. Pittman presided. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years in prison for both offenses.
