The Domestic Violence Screening Unit of the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office is a dedicated and experienced team who strive to keep Domestic Violence victims safe and hold abusers accountable. 

The DA’s Office Domestic Violence Unit is housed at the Family Justice Center which is a one stop shop for victims of domestic violence. The partnership assists victims in receiving services and resources that will impact their lives and the lives of their families.

Since taking office, DA Jason Williams has tripled the size of the DV Unit to include Assistant District Attorneys, Investigators, Screening Assistant, Victim Advocates, and an Intervention Case Manager.  DA Williams and the DV Screening Unit have implemented new programs to identify cases in which survivors are at significant risk of harm when the offender is released on bond and to address the safety concerns for those survivors more effectively.  DA Williams and the DV Screening Unit are developing and implementing programs designed to educate and assist survivors of domestic violence.  Along with developing alternatives to prosecution for some abusers which seek to address potential underlying causes and conditions and prevent a recurrence of these crimes.
